"Britney Blow Out"

Ok ladies, what happened with Britney last night? Was she on something?

I didn't watch the show, but I've seen so many clips that I feel like I was there. I was stunned by her lack of enthusiasm. She seemed like she didn't want to be there at all.

This morning on "The View", Whoopi Goldberg stated that she thinks that Britney doesn't even want to entertain anymore. She thinks that she is just doing it because she doesn't know anything else to do.

I guess when you've got people in your face telling you that you need to do something, you tend to "go with the flow".

Honestly, I don't really care.

I just thought that it was sad to see her messing up so badly. The really sad thing is that there are still lots of young girls that look up to her. She's a role model for our children.

As a mom, what do we do?

How do we approach the subject of these hollywood startlets' behaviors?

As a mother of all boys, I don't have to worry about Brit. However, I'd like to know, do any of the moms out there with girls talk to them about who their role models are.

Do you tell them that what these girls are doing is wrong and that they shouldn't be idolized; that they're just humans like us.

Let me know what you're opinion is by leaving me a comment HERE.

I just can't believe what I saw on the VMA's. She has obviously lost it. I don't think anyone thought she hadn't though. It's scary to think that she's a role model to my 13 year old daugther

Do you talk to your daughter about this?

I haven't really said anything yet. I wonder if I should say anything or just let it go?

That's what I'm wondering. I think I'll wait and see if other moms can answer this question

As a dad, I would steer my child away from these types being role models. I would point them to godly, Christian men and women....Jesus Christ being the first One.

These "stars" are usually empty shells of people. When the lights go down they are left alone and lonely. All our kids see is the "show". They don't see the many, many hours in-between.

If you're asking for advice, tell them the truth about people like Brittany Spears. We all know it; we just don't want to admit it. She, like so many, are not role models at all.

Point them to the real role models -- the ones who don't attract the spotlight. It is better to serve than to be served, better to give than to receive.

I didn't watch the VMAs either but Britney Spears was the hot topic on Inside Edition. It was obvious that she wasn't in the moment during the performance but her eyes were just vacant. She was lost. She didn't look drunk or stoned, she just looked like she woke up on a different planet! Poor girl. Maybe she's had a complete breakdown.

Having said that I guess its' a sad statement on society that moms who work so hard to raise daughters with self-esteem and self-respect must worry about someone like her.

Thank you, again, for your insight. You always seem to be able to put things into perspective.

Yes, it is sad that moms have to worry about girls like Britney. The sad part is that she's a woman, not a girl

I'm the mother of a 12 year old girl and a 7 year old boy. My daughter has never been the least bit interested in Britney, although she loves music. It's funny, we never talk about "role models". We simply talk about people and the things they do. I think the "role model" thing actually places way too much importance on any one person/profession. Why not just approach each individual event/action as either a positive thing or a negative thing. My kids don't seem too bothered about having a "role model". My daughter and I have discussed Britney and what a sad life she seems to have now. We think she needs some help.

You're right. I guess you just don't think of her as being a grown up. Because she was the bread winner in her household at such an earlier age, maybe she's trying to recapture her lost youth. Too bad she's making a fool of herself, though.

We as parents need to really see what our kids watch. My children could care less about her but they love Hanna Montana and we found out some shocking news and pictures about her and tory .So all in all Stars are not roll models for our children and most kids laugh at them. It's sad that today things are different than 40 years ago. People start taking the fun out of things and ruin it for all. ITs a shame.

You're right; it is a shame. My son likes Hanna Montana also. He's not into it like a girl would probably be. The scary part for me is that I don't always see what's going on with these TV shows. If anyone watched "The View" this morning you may have heard Whoopi Goldberg state that it was the parents responsibility to make sure their child isn't watching shows that aren't appropriate. I totally agree. However, how can we possibly monitor everything they watch. I know for a fact that my son turns on his TV in the middle of the night; usually on weekends. Other than taking the TV out of his room, how do parents monitor this?

What is the deal with Hannah Montana? My daughters both love watching her show. Has she gone bad too?

Also High school Musical has gone bad on the computer type in their names the dark haried one and troy their nude making out and etc.See people ruin it also theirs a movie right after that call Summerland it is awful very dirty talk with parents talking about sex and all I was watching High Musical with children when I noticed afterwards that movie summerland was coming on I watched a few seconds of it then I was in total shock . I thought all this time have my kids been watching crap like that every night. It makes me wonder why someone would allow this on a kids channel.

I don't know what's going on with Hannah Montana. Someone enlighten us.
I've never heard of Movie Summerland. That's scary. I'm sure my son has been watching it also; especially if it came on after High School Musical. I'll have to ask him about that one.
Thanks for the tip!

i find it funny that everyone finds fault with these "role models" today-after all, what has brittney done that is so outlandishly awful that madonna or sean pean (spicoli) for example havent done? stop a second- think back about those who would have been considered "role models" when you were that age- were they pristine & perfect? heck no- remember jody & buffy from family affair & what became of them? what about the different strokes issues with their cast? or lets move on to rockstars- madonna & the many issues people drummed up about her-elvis wasnt any saint, even though you would NEVER know it to look at everything today-
the point is- everyone is human-these are REAL people- brittney is not the pop idol she once was- she is a single mom trying to live under the very scrutinizing eye of the public- let's face it- you guys ADORE this stuff-
& nobody stopped to say what an awful thing it was that disney is STANDING BEHIND vanessa hudgins & her nude pic that leaked out last week-they arent stupid- its great press & gets more people to actually check out her work- yet it was a big deal when the beast gave belle tongue in beauty & the beast- the public was offended, shocked outraged & appalled- how 1950's it all must seem...
seriously- i have kids- my eldest idolizes kevin smith- & jayson mewes too- if you dont know who they are, jay & silent bob should do the trick- he admires kevin smith for his writing work, though-& his genre- my child knows not to outright emulate these guys-am i a bad parent for allowing him to watch clerks? or dogma? or even the more tame jersey girl? it's my decision-
as for brittney-there is much more to that story than what the average person is glancing/glossing over- she's a grown-up now-has been since she got married & had kids-she pretty much stopped being much of a little kid role model anyways-the generation she really appealed to mostly are now upper teens & early 20's-definatly old enough to make their own decisions!

I think it's alot differant now than when I was a teenager as far as idols go. I am 40 years old so Madonna was an idol of sorts to me. I dressed and did my hair like her I didn't want to be her.
I see it in my own girls they want to be these girls. I don't understand why I try to explain to them their lives are not all that great. When we were growing up the news wasn't always shoving everything that the stars were doing wrong down our throats 24/7.
Now it also more common for these girls to become very famous at a young age so they have young fans but just like everyone else they grow probably alot faster than normal kids their age. I just hate it when I see these girls all made up half dressed paraded around. Where are their parents?

When I first heard Britney's new song and the beginning line, "It's Britney, Bitch!" I told my 19 year old daughter I was glad I didn't have younger daughters who looked up to Britney has a role model because to open a song that way all the while knowing you have young fans, is unacceptable and irresponsible, but it's all about the money, sales, etc. and I can understand from a business point of view. It doesn't make it right, but as a business owner myself, I understand the concept.

Britney - the person - has me worried. I know she's on the outs with her mother, her father. It's as if she has alienated everyone who is in a position to help her.

Terribly sad.

Looking back, my idols were Susan Dey (who I would eventually meet years later), Karen Carpenter and Linda Blair (who I would also meet years later). Karen died of Anorexia, but I don't believe anyone publically knew she was suffering. Had the internet been around then, we would have all known.

The internet is to blame for most of the information, and misinformation, that is cirulating about these stars. I think that the fame is probably the cause of their behavior.
Yes, people do LOVE this stuff! Whatever is in the headlines is what people are talking about. I was kind of hoping that we could make a healthy conversation from it. Since I'm not the mother of girls, I wasn't sure if it was really affecting them like the media says.

i have a 13 year old daughter and she's more concerned with people she actually knows than people she'll never meet. I've always encouraged her and her sisters to be themselves and not try to be like anyone including me. She likes the kind of music these people sing or the movies or shows they act in but she could really care less about the person themselves. She did comment on Britney's performance. She said it was sad that she wasted such a great career being stupid.

I saw somewhere that the heel on Britney's right boot was broken. That would account for her performance. Does anyone know if this is true?

THis is just another cry for attention. I think her focus should be her kids and their well being. Money doesn't make you a better mom nor a better person. I am a mother of a 15 year and 2 year old. Both girls. I am only 30 feel sad for her because she has so much and doesn't know it. She is trying to relive something that was over along time ago. Melissa I do. I talk to her about being arole model not a follower.

Well High school Musical show the girl dark hair and Troy they are both naked modeling with one another on the computer just type their real names in on google on type nude pictures she pop up first. It is so sad that the people enjoy getting false attention I believe they are letting their $$$ get in the way now. As a child I loved punky Brewster and Dooggie houser, Biil Cosby ,Rosanne. I never paid close attention to how faul she talked but now . Things are way out of control now!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

If Britney is crying out for attention, she's certainly got it!
