"Half the Woman"

It's finally happened. I've decided to lose some weight. For any of you that know me, you know how big a deal that is. I've been steadily gaining weight for the last year. My lack of exercise has finally caught up with me.

After I went to a follow-up appointment with my orthopedic doctor, I made the decision to do it. He told me that I didn't have a choice. I had to lose some weight. It has been affecting my health tremedously. He's actually the 4th doctor that's told me to lose weight. My primary care physician, my cardiologist, and my ob/gyn told me this also. The fact that I have all of these doctors should have been the first sign that I needed to shed a few pounds.

My weight gain has not been caused by eating too much. In the past, it was the cause of weight gain. This time, not so. I'm coming clean in an effort to help someone that is maybe going through the same thing. I gained weight b/c I started starving myself, thinking that I would lose weight that way. It obviously did not work for me. I am now at my all-time highest. I weigh 208 pounds. My body fat percentage was 42.8%. Yikes! I can't belive I just admitted that. My goal weight is 154 lbs. At that point, I'll be almost half the woman I am today, LOL. I have 17 weeks to get the weight off, according to my plan, which is mentioned below. They're telling me it's guaranteed.

Well, now that it's out, I can fix it. I am now accountable to everyone that reads this blog.

So, here's my plan. I joined Metabolic Weight Loss Center in Shreveport. I made the decision that if I paid someone a lot of money to "stay on my butt", I would probably stick with it. Otherwise, you can forget it.

Basically, they give you a diet plan with lots of proteins, supplements, and portion control. You can have some carbs! Otherwise, I wouldn't do it. I can tell you that I'm one of the most stubborn people in the world when it comes to my weight. They have a tough one on their hands. They just don't know it yet.

I've been told that they're very good at their jobs; that they will have no problem keeping me motivated.

So, I am going through something called preconditioning right now. I'm not sure what it's all about. I think it is slowly easing me into what will come next week. I won't find out until tomorrow what the "real diet" will be like.

So, I will keep everyone updated on my progress. I am even going to post pictures sometimes. They may not be pretty! Oh, and in this picture, I have no make-up on. Scary, huh? That's my breakfast in the picture. As you can see, I wasn't very happy.

Wish me luck!
