Have you heard about the internet hoax that has recently been in the news that resulted in the death of a 13-year old girl? If you haven’t, please click HERE.This is extremely troubling to me. My kids are not old enough to be involved in things like My Space yet, but it scares me nonetheless.
This poor girl was the victim of a classmate's mother. The mother pretended to be a 16-year old boy that showed interest in her. Then, towards the end, she sent messages to her stating that “the world would be better off without her”.
This girl was already suffering from depression, and the mother that did the hoax knew that. Apparently, she was trying to get information about the girl. This is why she did it in the first place. However, it makes me wonder why she decided to be so mean? Was she trying to push the girl to kill herself? She had to have known that it was a possibility.
Do you think that there should be a law against this type of crime? What should the punishment be?
